San Pietro in Cariano: a quantum leap thanks to CDP

With the loans granted by Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, the municipality has changed its face

"Cassa Depositi e Prestiti is a true partner for all Italian towns”.T his is how the Mayor of San Pietro in Cariano expressed his appreciation for CDP's support in the construction of a long list of infrastructure projects: sewer system, waterworks, wastewater treatment plant, schools.

San Pietro in Cariano is a town with a population of around 12,000 in the heart of Valpolicella, the land of Amarone and other great Italian wines. The town's entire economy revolves around wine. The "Consortium for the protection and promotion of Valpolicella wines" was founded here in 1925. This association represents over 80% of local producers. San Pietro in Cariano has also been home to the University of Verona's Viticulture and Oenological Sciences and Technology Department for more than 15 years. The internationally renowned research and training centre has around 200 students and is a very attractive asset that benefits the entire local community.

The artistic and architectural heritage is another competitive asset that should not be overlooked. There are fifteen Venetian villas scattered across the hills in the area.

"The 20 and 30-year loans granted by CDP have enabled the town to make a quantum leap". One of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti's objectives is to support the construction of infrastructure and innovative projects, fostering growth and employment at a local level and for the entire country.
