EUR Towers: CDP Real Asset completes works in four years

Glass, stone, and 1,200 tons of travertine. But also gardens, an open-air arena, and sophisticated technologies for energy savings and sustainability. Ligini’s design shines once again.

CDP Real Asset has delivered an iconic asset back to the city of Rome. After twenty years of abandonment and decay, the EUR Towers complex has officially returned to active use. Managed by the Development Fund of the CDP Group’s SGR, the architectural and structural restoration was highly demanding, requiring the original design by master architect Cesare Ligini to be restored to its historic value while adapting it to today's modern requirements.

The project followed the highest technological standards, introducing innovative solutions to effectively manage modern demands for sustainability, health, and safety according to the most advanced international criteria.

The redevelopment spanned five pre-existing buildings—three 17-story towers standing 65 meters tall, and two lower-rise buildings dating back to the 1960s—alongside the construction of a new two-story building that serves as an entrance and connecting hub. The base upon which they stand features an urban area that seamlessly reconnects with the fabric of the EUR district, a vibrant and rapidly revitalizing zone for professional, cultural, and leisure activities

The Towers span a gross floor area of approximately 90,000 square meters, featuring 60,000 square meters of office space and over 21,000 square meters of underground spaces.

The complex will achieve LEED Gold certification and has already earned WiredScore Platinum certification, covering sustainability and digital connectivity, respectively.

"With CDP Real Asset at the forefront, and the support of Fintecna, we have converted the structure into a modern and efficient complex capable of generating lasting value for the local community," said the CEO of the CDP Group, Dario Scannapieco, during the inauguration of the Towers, in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Economy Maurizio Leo and the Mayor of Rome Roberto Gualtieri.

According to Antonino Turicchi, Chairman of CDP Real Asset SGR, "the new EUR Towers demonstrate how even highly valuable real estate, left unused for years, can return to generating concrete benefits for the city and the community."

"Today is one of those days that makes an entrepreneur proud to be one," stated Diego Carron, president of the Carron Group, the contractor behind the works, at the conclusion of a process that required 1.7 million hours of labor and the coordination of 160 companies.

A great three-dimensional system once again carves out its space in the vibrant district of business and culture.
