Economic cooperation between Italy and the United Arab Emirates – initiated at the Italy-UAE Business Forum – is being strengthened. In fact, a first operational meeting was held in Rome at CDP’s headquarters between Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP) and the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), the government entity responsible for supporting private-sector investment in Abu Dhabi, with the aim of promoting new collaboration opportunities between Italian and Emirati companies.

The meeting marked the start of the collaboration established by the Memorandum of Understanding signed during the February Forum between the two entities, and aims to encourage direct investment in the respective countries, leveraging the expertise of the two institutions to support Italian companies in pursuing new investment opportunities in the United Arab Emirates and to support the entry of Emirati companies backed by ADIO into the Italian market.

The day opened with greetings from representatives of the Italian and Emirati diplomatic and institutional community. Remarks from Dario Scannapieco, Chief Executive Officer of CDP, and Badr Al-Olama, General Manager of ADIO, officially launched the proceedings.

During the meeting, representatives from the business communities of the two countries took part in round tables dedicated to prospects for collaboration in strategic sectors for both economies, such as renewable energy, digital and infrastructure.

The event also provided an opportunity for the signing of new agreements that strengthen the framework of the bilateral cooperation. These include an agreement between CDP and the Directorate General of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce (ADCCI) aimed at promoting CDP’s Business Matching platform among companies in both countries.

The meeting on 27 October is part of a broader economic diplomacy strategy, reinforced at the Italy-UAE Business Forum, which led to the signing of a series of agreements between CDP and Emirati partners to promote new opportunities for companies in both countries.
