A new perspective for tourism and culture in Italy

CDP alongside the MiC to revive historic villages, parks and gardens

Public notices on Attractiveness of Villages and Historic Parks and Gardens have been published to support projects to develop the identity of places, restore historic heritage, regenerate public open spaces and build new cultural services.

The measures - managed by the Ministry of Culture - are intended for municipalities with a population of up to 5,000, for cultural and social regeneration projects in small historical villages, and for both public and private entities, for projects related to historic parks and gardens recognised by the MIC.

The total grant allocation is €380 million for the Attractiveness of Villages and €190 million for the Historic Parks and Gardens. The funds come from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, which, through the specific "Tourism and Culture" measure, aims to develop the enormous potential of small Italian centres for alternative sustainable tourism and to regenerate the historic parks and gardens that play a key role in the life of communities in terms of social inclusion and economic benefits.

Cassa Depositi e Prestiti has set up the portal to apply for measures and will provide technical assistance to the Ministry of Culture.

More information is available on the Ministry of Culture website (in the Avviso ttrattività dei Borghi - Avviso  Parchi e Giardini Storici sections) and on CDP's website. It will be possible to submit applications and related documentation until 15 March 2022.
