CDP has issued its second Green Bond, aimed at promoting projects with positive and tangible environmental impacts, including infrastructure investments in the renewable energy and sustainable mobility sectors, as well as investments in businesses aimed at improving energy efficiency and supporting the circular economy.
With this Green Bond issuance, CDP strengthens its leadership in technological innovation by leveraging blockchain technology to tokenize the reporting process. This provides investors with an additional tool to verify the allocation of proceeds to Eligible Assets and their related impacts, while enhancing the transparency, integrity, and reliability of the information disclosed. Through this initiative, CDP aims to further build investor confidence in sustainable investment practices and support them in achieving their ESG reporting objectives.
This marks the 11th ESG bond issuance, reaffirming CDP position as a leading issuer in the sustainable finance environment, following the nine between Social and Sustainability Bond issuances since 2017, along with the company’s inaugural Green Bond issued in 2023.
The issuance is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with specific reference to SDG 7, 9, 11, 12, 13 (respectively “Affordable and Clean Energy”, “Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure”, “Sustainable cities and communities”, “Responsible Consumption and Production” and “Climate Action”).
The issuance marks the debut of an CDP bond exclusively dedicated to institutional investors on Borsa Italiana’s Mercato Telematico delle Obbligazioni (MOT). Furthermore, the Green Bond 2025 is the first to be issued under the “CDP Green, Social and Sustainability Bond Framework” revised in December 2023, and fully adheres to the Sustainability Bond Guidelines published by the International Capital Market Association (ICMA).
