Thirty million to the Pittini Group to invest in sustainability

Cassa Depositi e Prestiti promotes innovation, sustainability and the development of the entrepreneurial fabric by supporting strategic supply chains in Italy and abroad. One example is the financing granted to the Pittini Group, one of Italy’s leading players in the production and processing of steel.

The company received 30 million euros from CDP to invest in a low-emission transfer system for semi-finished steel products and in more efficient water treatment and production-related facilities. These initiatives will have a positive impact on water and energy resource use and will boost the competitiveness of two of the Group’s main plants in Verona and Udine.

The Group operates 29 production and logistics sites located not only in Italy but also in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, employing 2,000 people and generating annual production in excess of 3 million tonnes.

With revenue of around 2 billion euros, two-thirds of which is generated abroad in 65 countries, the company stands out for its strong vertical integration, ranging from steel production using electric arc furnace technology that mainly uses scrap as raw material, to the sale of finished steel products. Its main end markets include mechanical engineering, construction, the automotive industry and the domestic appliance sector.
The transaction solidifies the Pittini Group’s competitive position in the steel industry and strengthens its environmental sustainability profile, establishing it as a gold standard at the European level.
