Recreational therapy for 2,000 young people in difficulty in Naples
Around 2,000 young people from Naples have taken part in “Recreational Therapy” initiatives over the past two years, co-developed by the Dynamo Camp Foundation and the CDP Foundation. These are innovative care programmes based on social-educational activities centred around shared experiences and fun, offered free of charge to minors facing hardship, including those with serious or chronic illnesses, neurodevelopmental disorders or disabilities. Made possible with the support of the City of Naples, the project aims to provide relief to entire families. Indeed, in addition to the programmes for children, support is also offered to parents to help them better manage day-to-day life.
The results and impact of this joint commitment were the focus of today’s event marking two years since the start of the partnership. The discussion brought together Chiara Marciani, Councillor for Youth and Employment Policies of the City of Naples, Serena Porcari, CEO of the Dynamo Camp ETS Foundation, and Francesca Sofia, General Manager of the CDP Foundation.
The event took place in the multifunctional spaces of the city’s youth centres, made available at no cost by the City of Naples to support the Dynamo Camp and CDP Foundation project. The programmes were initially hosted at the Casa della Socialità and are currently held at the Youth Centre, a venue able to accommodate more participants and strengthen the project’s roots within the local area.
Children take part in music, theatre, art labs, sensory activities, storytelling and hip hop, all designed to engage and entertain while gently challenging the participants, in keeping with the Recreational Therapy approach that underpins all Dynamo Camp activities, focusing on each person’s unique strengths and potential.
