The aerospace sector is among the most strategic for the national economy, involving over 500 companies across the Italian territory, with a total turnover of 21 billion euro.
In Umbria, one of the regions where the sector is most significant, is based OMA (Officine Meccaniche Aeronautiche), one of the leaders in the design and production of integrated aerostructures and onboard systems for aircraft, as well as in unmanned aerial systems, maintenance services, repair and overhaul.
Founded in 1948, the company has 700 employees and a turnover of 94 million euro, one-third of which is generated in foreign markets.
The new growth phase of OMA involves an investment of 10 million euro, of which 5 million financed by CDP, with the goal of supporting research and development and boosting the production capacity of its facilities. Specifically, new machinery will be purchased and programmes on cutting-edge aeronautical systems and technologies for ecological transition will be implemented.
The initiative has significant impacts in economic and employment terms, also thanks to its location in an economically transitioning region such as Umbria, where OMA concentrates the majority of its production. Moreover, it contributes to consolidating the Region's positioning as a hub of aerospace excellence.
