The funds will be used for water and wastewater infrastructure upgrades under the 2023-2028 Investment Plan, focusing on efficiency, sustainability and resilience across 22 municipalities in Umbria
Valle Umbra Servizi (VUS) is scaling up investments in the integrated water service thanks to a €19 million loan stipulated with Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP), backed by the InvestEU Fund, the programme of the European Commission designed to revitalise private investment in the EU and support long-term competitiveness and growth. The loan will enable VUS to complete funding for the 2023-2028 infrastructure investment plan for the water sector, which includes targeted actions for environmental sustainability, digitalisation and strengthening water resilience in the 22 municipalities of Foligno, Spoleto and Valnerina in the Umbria Region.
This operation is part of CDP’s strategy to support sustainable infrastructure investments in Italy, including through the use of EU instruments such as InvestEU, in line with the objectives of the European Green Deal and the ecological transition. The funds will be used to improve network efficiency and quality, reduce water losses, digitalise plants, strengthen the separation of wastewater and stormwater and optimise purification and sludge management. The plan also includes the construction of new wells, the expansion of the sewerage network and the interconnection of existing distribution systems.
