Rome September 28, 2017

The unique excitement of a breathtaking trip among the peaks of Mont Blanc. Skyway, the new high-tech Mont Blanc cable car with a 360 ° rotating cab, allows you to reach 3,500 meters altitude to enjoy an exceptional panorama among the white of perennial glaciers and snow, the alpine green, and the deep blue sky.

They call it the "Eighth Wonder of the World" and Cassa depositi e prestiti contributed to the construction of this spectacular work of tourism infrastructure because the Italian financial institution believed in the potential of a project with high technological standards, strong tourist potential, and growth of the territory.

With a price tag of €138 million, the cable care took 4 years to build. CDP funded part of the construction with a €42 million loan to Finaosta Spa, Valle’d’Aosta Aosta Valley's finance company.

The cable car, which replaces one built between 1948 and 1958, features rotating glass cabinets, providing visitors and mountain lovers with a unique experience. The route begins at the Pontal d'Entrèves station at 1300 meters above sea level to the Pavillon du Mont Fréty intermediate station offering various services and attractions including an alpine botanical garden, a small children's playground, a bar restaurant, a conference center, and even a wine cellar to taste experimental wines produced at high altitude.

The arrival point is Punta Helbronner, from here you can enjoy a breathtaking 360 ° view on the roof of Europe from the beautiful panoramic terrace, refresh yourself at the bistro and visit the permanent Mont Blanc crystal display.

The design, technology, and materials used in the new construction blend into the natural scenery. The low-environmental impact structure is made from steel and glass, large photovoltaic surfaces, and heating systems with heat pumps and heat recovery that allow the reduction and dispersion of energy consumption.

CDP's support for this project is in line with the mission of promoting the development of identity and territorial heritage through modern, innovative and sustainable solutions and long-term prospects in the field of tourism and hospitality. The goal is to use Italy’s natural features and peculiarities to develop competitive and high-level services and attractions.

The Italian territory is one of the most important resources in our country and we know it well because we do everything we can to enhance it.
