CDP signs three new agreements with the United Arab Emirates. The aim is to promote new opportunities for Italian and Emirati companies and to finance the production of renewable energy facilities and innovative water management projects with a special focus on Africa, in accordance with the Mattei Plan.
Attended by Chairman Giovanni Gorno Tempini, the signing ceremony took place on Monday, 24 February, during the Italy-United Arab Emirates Business Forum organised in Rome at the Hotel Parco dei Principi during the State visit to Italy of the Middle Eastern country’s president, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. A visit that further strengthens the bilateral economic relations established in 2023 with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's visit to the Emirates.
An agreement was signed with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), the government body responsible for supporting private sector investment in Abu Dhabi, that will facilitate access for Italian companies – including those in CDP's portfolio – to investment opportunities in the UAE and will accompany Emirati companies on the Italian market.
Energy and water are the focus of the two other agreements signed with AMEA Power, an Abu Dhabi-based company active in the renewable energy sector, and Metito Utilities, a company specialised in water resources. The former aims to identify areas of collaboration in green energy and sustainable infrastructure projects, with a focus on Mattei Plan priority countries. The latter will support projects of the Emirates utility in areas such as desalination and water treatment.
