Social housing in Perugia

A 27 thousand sq. m. residential complex is to be built on the site of a former tobacco factory

Perugia, 25 July 2016

Social housing arrives in Perugia thanks to CDP Investimenti. The CDP Group’s asset management company is set to redevelop the area formerly home to the Agenzia Coltivazione Tabacchi, with a residential complex of around 27,000 sq. m. including 171 social housing units. The new residential area will also have commercial facilities, community services including a crèche/pre-school and rented housing. It is hoped that the project will help to solve the city’s housing problem. Lastly, the project involves the construction of a two-storey underground public/private parking garage, as well as two pedestrian plazas with green spaces, which will be accessible to the entire community.

The initiative was carried out via the FIA – Fondo Investimenti per l’Abitare, managed by CDP Investimenti, which underwrote 70% of the Fondo ASCI – Abitare Sostenibile Centro Italia, managed by Prelios Sgr, which in turn acquired the former tobacco factory.
