Public Sector Cloud: the National Strategic Hub is launched

CDP joins Tim, Leonardo and Sogei as shareholders in the new infrastructure on course to be operational by the end of the year

Security, efficiency and independence. These are the keywords behind the National Strategic Hub (Polo Strategico Nazionale - PSN), set up with the aim of building and managing a technologically innovative and independent cloud infrastructure for the digital transformation of the public sector.

The PSN will host the critical and strategic data and services of central public sector bodies, local health authorities and other territorial public bodies. The organisations will also be able to transfer ordinary data to the Hub.

The launch of the PSN is one of the main NRRP initiatives and will be crucial to achieving the goal of enabling 75% of public sector bodies to use cloud services by 2026.

The project company is jointly owned by TIM (45%), Leonardo (25%), Cassa Depositi e Prestiti through CDP Equity (20%) and Sogei (10%).

The infrastructure will be operational by the end of the year with the construction of four green Data Centres, interconnected with ultra-broad optical fibre connectivity to ensure operational continuity in real time.

The launch of the PSN will be a major contribution to improving services offered to the public and businesses, reducing public sector costs for digital infrastructure investment and management and increasing energy efficiency by reducing consumption.
