New loan for Latteria Soresina

New loan for Latteria Soresina

€30 million of investment to increase production capacity

Latteria Soresina, the world's leading producer of Grana Padano DOP, has received €30 million from CDP and BCC Iccrea Group to boost production volumes and strengthen its position in the dairy market.

The loan will be used to scale up the existing packaging department to satisfy the increase in production and build a logistics area to make warehouse management more efficient, thereby lowering management costs; new IT infrastructure will also be introduced to strengthen cybersecurity safeguards

Latteria Soresina, a cooperative whose history goes back over 120 years, also produces Parmigiano Reggiano DOP, butter, provolone and gorgonzola, with a range of almost 500 products. In 2022, its 180-plus farmer members contributed more than 500,000 tonnes of milk, which were processed in the producer’s seven factories in Lombardy and Emilia-Romagna.

In addition to its leadership position in Italy, its performance on foreign markets is increasingly impressive: exports account for more than €100 million of its €500 million turnover, with strong growth compared to the previous year. Of the 80 countries it exports to, of particular significance are Germany, the Netherlands and Spain in Europe and, outside the EU, the USA, Canada and Australia.

The new investments will serve to further strengthen Latteria Soresina’s reputation for its focus on quality, links with the local area and ESG issues, such as the reduction of energy and water consumption, waste recycling and the lowering of CO2 emissions. Its commitment to sustainability has already made it possible in recent years to reduce its consumption of water by 40%, of electricity by 8% and of methane gas by 15%, as well as to lower emissions by 10%.
