Naples: 15 million from CDP for the efficiency of the water network managed by ABC

From digitised systems to the renovation of city fountains, the financing of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti for the sustainable development projects of the company that manages the service in the Neapolitan area

Improving the efficiency of the water network serving the city of Naples thanks to a digitised system that avoids leaks in the distribution network and inconvenience to the population. This is the main objective of the 15 million euro loan granted by Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP) to ABC (Acqua Bene Comune, or Water Common Good) Napoli, which manages the infrastructure in the area.

In detail, the resources will be used to support the investment plan of the Neapolitan Special Agency. The projects include the installation of smart meters, technological tools capable of monitoring the network's operating parameters and increasing its reliability; the introduction of a new digitised monitoring platform that allows for the supervision, management and optimisation of the network; the renovation of the city's fountains by adopting state-of-the-art equipment and the refurbishment of some sections of the network.

The operation is part of a broader ABC Napoli project called ABC4INNOVATION: Digital and technological transition towards the Smart Water System of the city of Naples, aimed at optimising the management of the water network in a simple and intuitive way through the development of a monitoring system.

Also thanks to the financing granted by Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, ABC Napoli will be able to give live to projects to improve the efficiency of the network so as to meet both the needs of the public and those of a modern management of the Integrated Water Service. This initiative is in keeping with CDP's commitment to promote the sustainable use of water, particularly in southern Italy.
