The development of an efficient and sustainable transport system: that is the aim of financing granted to Be Charge, which will receive more than €100 million euros to create one of the largest high-speed charging networks in Europe by 2025.
In addition to the €50 million from CDP, the European Commission has issued a further €50.4 million in the form of a grant to create a network of over 2,000 ultra-fast charging points across Italy, Spain, France, Austria, Germany, Portugal, Slovenia and Greece.
Be Charge is a wholly owned subsidiary of Plenitude (Eni). It currently has more than 18,000 charging points throughout Italy, in addition to another 170,000 through interoperability agreements with other operators. The company is aiming to develop high-power European infrastructure for electric vehicles and double its network to 30,000 charging points by 2026.
The EU’s contribution was awarded as part of the Connecting Europe Facility, a European Commission programme for the promotion of green mobility, of which CDP is the executive partner for Italy. This is a key role for facilitating access to European programmes and resources for Italian enterprises and supporting the development of transport infrastructure and sustainable mobility.
