Fondazione CDP launches first call for proposals: “Ukraine Emergency” begins

€500 thousand from the Institution for non-profit organisations and social enterprises

Three projects have been selected to respond to the needs of the afflicted population: Terra Felix in Campania, UNHCR in Ukraine, Emergency in border areas

The first call for proposals, fully conceived and supported by Fondazione CDP, is dedicated to supporting people impacted by the war in Ukraine: nearly a year after the start of the conflict, the Institution is launching  "Ukraine Emergency" which aims to alleviate the effects of the humanitarian crisis through the selection of one or more projects that can meet the social, health, educational and logistical needs of the afflicted population.

Fondazione CDP is making €500,000 available to non-profit organisations and social enterprises able to set up or expand reception and assistance activities for Ukrainian refugees in Italy, including through the creation of training, work or recreational opportunities. Initiatives in Ukraine and in the border areas can also be implemented, including the provision of basic necessities such as food, medicine, blankets and other items.

"The initiative we are announcing today is in addition to the other forms of support that have been put in place for the Ukrainian population since the beginning of the conflict, in cooperation with leading institutional partners.” Said Giovanni Gorno Tempini, President of Fondazione CDP.

The call closed on 17 April 2023 and resulted in the selection of three projects, which had applied on the dedicated portal

  • "A.E.I.O.U. Accoglienza Emozioni Iniziative Ospitalità per l'Ukraine" (Hospitality Initiatives for Ukraine) put forward by Terra Felix in Campania

  •  "Ukraine Emergency" proposed by UNHCR active in Ukraine

  • "Restoration of health services in Lyman for the population affected by the war" from Emergency, based 30 km from the front

The selected initiatives will have a minimum duration of 6 months and a maximum of one year, and then end by December 2024. Fondazione CDP will provide a minimum of €100,000 and a maximum of €200,000 for each selected project.

Francesca Sofia, Director General of Fondazione CDP, expressed his satisfaction: “I am proud to announce the launch of the first call for proposals designed and supported entirely by Fondazione CDP, which will make it possible to put in place crucial initiatives such as temporary accommodation, training and employment opportunities and integration for refugees."

“Ukraine Emergency” is only the first measure, the Foundation is preparing further calls for proposals for the various action areas, as provided for in the 2023-2025 Strategic Plan.

Fondazione CDP

Fondazione CDP was set up in 2020 by Cassa Depositi e Prestiti with the goal of strengthening the Group's contribution and commitment to Italy’s social, cultural, environmental and economic development, with a particular focus on initiatives for the younger generations and in support of human capital.
