Fincantieri: here is the new Seabourn Ovation

The company controlled by the CDP Group has delivered a new ultra-luxury cruise ship under the banner of energy efficiency, environmental sustainability and cutting-edge technology

It is called Seabourn Ovation and is the second ultra-luxury cruise ship ordered from Fincantieri - a company owned by CDP Group - by Seabourn Cruise Line, the world’s leading cruise operator. A jewel of wealth, technology and energy efficiency that the Italian shipbuilding Group delivered a few days ago during a ceremony at the Genoa Sestri Ponente yard, confirming its international leadership in the marine engineering sector.

Just like its sister ship, Seabourn Encore, Seabourn Ovation has been built using cutting-edge technical solutions, aimed at optimising energy efficiency and minimizing environmental impact, factors that make Seabourn one of the biggest brands in the ultra-luxury segment. The vessel can reach a cruising speed 18.6 knots and can accommodate 600 passengers on board, in 300 spacious suites with private balconies, all with sea views: an ambitious project that testifies, once again, to the prestige of the Made in Italy know how of Fincantieri.

Indeed, the Italian shipbuilding Group is constantly engaged in researching and studying highly innovative solutions, capable of attracting the attention of the major players of the marine industry, and not only within the cruise sector. Take the case of the Prysmian Group, world leader in cabling systems for energy and telecommunications, which commissioned Vard Holdings Limited, a Norwegian subsidiary of Fincantieri, to design and build a cable-laying vessel, with a contract worth approximately 170 million euros.

Vard, one of the first companies in the world to design and build special ships and offshore units, will design the new vessel to perform complex installation operations providing support through a variety of innovative and low environmental impact burying systems, including high performance submarine ploughs and high precision positioning systems.

The CDP Group follows the same successful path as Fincantieri: so #wepromotethefuture and we contribute to the spread of Made in Italy know-how around the World.
