Eni and Terna Team Up for the Future of Italian Renewable Energy

The two CDP Group-controlled companies signed a new agreement to cooperate in the development of sustainable power generation

Rome,  December 29, 2016

Eni and Terna, two CDP Group-controlled companies that exemplify excellence in the Italian energy sector, have reached a bilateral agreement (Memorandum of Understanding) for joint research and development in the field of environmental sustainability and renewable energy.

The primary aim of the two companies, which plan to work on gas-to-power projects (using natural gas for electricity generation), is the creation of smarter and more sustainable energy, as well complimenting the existing power-grid generation with the creation of power plants that run on renewable resources.  Eni and Terna also will work together on innovating Smart Grid and Energy Storage technology for efficient power grid management with a more rational use of energy, while at the same time capable of minimizing power overloads and other problematic factors in power generation.

The agreement is in line with Eni’s renewable-energy strategy of creating value through partnerships with leading companies such as Terna.

Through projects developed by companies and corporate stakes under its umbrella, as well as through direct financing, CDP Group supports environmental protection and energy efficiency. CDP promotes Italy’s future by working to develop environmental sustainability and new green energy models.
