Efficiency and sustainability for the development of the agricultural sector in Emilia-Romagna

An agreement has been signed between the Region, AGREA and CDP for the effective management of €913 million under the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD)

The objective of the Agreement signed between the Emilia-Romagna Region, the Regional Agency for Agricultural Disbursements (AGREA) and Cassa Depositi e Prestiti is to contribute to the socio-economic growth of the area by focusing on the sustainability of the agricultural sector. Under the agreement, which strengthens cooperation for the efficient use of European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) resources, CDP will provide technical and operational support services for resource management.

The Region of Emilia-Romagna is the beneficiary of the EAFRD Fund, with a budget of 913 million euros for the 2021-2027 programming period to finance initiatives in favour of rural areas, in line with the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).

Cassa Depositi e Presitti will provide technical and strategic support to the Region and AGREA, as well as supervising the allocation and monitoring of financing. The agreement consolidates the role of the Cassa as an institution supporting the local public administration, also in its mandate management activity. Services offered with the aim of an increasingly effective and timely implementation of measures related to the use of European funds, to carry out sustainable growth projects, in line with CDP's Strategic Plan 2022 - 2024.

"The institutional cooperation with Cassa Depositi e Presitti is important and useful, helping us to complete a series of administrative procedures related to Rural Development 2023-2027 in a more timely and accurate manner. For the Emilia-Romagna Region, being able to rely on CDP's expertise is an additional guarantee for the sound and efficient management of European funds for the benefit of agricultural and agri-food companies," said Alessio Mammi, Councillor for Agriculture and Agri-Food of the Emilia-Romagna Region.
“This Convention will make it possible, through the fruitful cooperation between regional administrations and the CDP, to lay the foundations for better management and administration of the funds recognised by Europe. These are fundamental resources which, thanks to the agreement announced today, will make it possible to implement plans for the development of rural areas in Emilia-Romagna by strengthening the agricultural sector," said Massimo Di Carlo, Deputy General Manager and Business Director of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti.
