Development cooperation: CDP confirms leadership role

Agreement signed with Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation

Rome, 15 July 2016

CDP is to play a major role in international development cooperation according to an agreement signed at the Farnesina Palace with the Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS).

The agreement confirms CDP’s role as financial institution for development cooperation, acting as a catalyst for private-sector funding. The agreement also sets out rules on relations between the institutions in managing the financial aspects of cooperation initiatives, those financed through subsidised loans and innovative forms of financing involving European or international organisations, or organisations that are part of European Union programmes.

CDP is strengthening its leadership in closer and more productive ties with emerging countries, to ensure ongoing positive development of international economic relations.
