CDP Group’s shipbuilding company Fincantieri delivered the Viking Sky, third in a series of six cruise ships ordered by Viking Ocean Cruises. Similar to its sister ships, Viking Sky is positioned in the small-unit market segment, with a gross tonnage of about 47,800 tons, consisting of 465 cabins and total accommodation capacity of over 1,400 people, including crew.

Ship interiors were designed by naval architects and engineers with extensive experience, including a SMC Design interior design team in London, with extensive experience designing bars, lounges and restaurants for Viking and Norwegian Cruise Line., and the Rottet Studio in Los Angeles, whose client portfolio includes the Loews Regency Hotel in New York.

Viking Sky has a modern Scandinavian-inspired design with sophisticated, elegant and functional features. The ship is equipped with an exhaust gas cleaning system and the most advanced technologies for saving energy, meeting the strictest environmental regulations with energy-efficient engines. The final Viking orders will be delivered at the end of this year, in 2018, and 2019.

In other news, Fincantieri extended its business relationship with Carnival Corp. after the world’s largest cruise operator requested the experience of the CDP-owned company for the construction of two new ships worth a total of over one billion euros for the Holland America Line and Princess Cruises brands. Deliveries are scheduled respectively for 2021 and 2022.
