CDP teams up with ENAC for a more sustainable airport system

The agreement, which is part of the InvestEu Programme, involves advisory services on renewable energy and the regeneration of available areas

Making Italian airports self-sufficient and efficient in terms of energy while accelerating the use of renewables are the joint goals of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti and ENAC (Ente Nazionale per l’Aviazione Civile). Today, the two organisations signed an agreement to direct investments towards energy sustainability in the airport areas and infrastructure managed by ENAC.

The signatories of the agreement were the Head of Advisory at CDP, Lorenzo Fidato, and the Director of Economic Planning and Infrastructure Development at ENAC, Claudio Eminente. CDP, which is an Advisory Partner for the InvestEU Advisory Hub Programme for the production of renewable energy, will make its centres of expertise available to ENAC for the measures that the Authority plans to implement to equip airports with the facilities to produce energy self-sufficiently and exploit renewables, thereby reducing their carbon footprint. Areas and infrastructure available for any other energy-related uses will also be identified – the production of green hydrogen, for example.

The guiding aims of the agreement signed today confirm the institutional goals and objectives of the two partners, who both see ENAC working to reconcile the air transport system with the environment and CDP operating in support of public entities, enterprises and infrastructures, with a strong focus on international ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) principles.
