CDP takes a stake in ELITE to promote high-potential companies

Purchased 15% of the Italian Stock Exchange platform supporting the raising of capital for entrepreneurial excellence

Rome, 17 July 2017

CDP confirms its role in the promotion of growth for Italian companies through the purchase of a minority holding in ELITE, the Italian Stock Exchange platform (in the London Stock Exchange Group) which supports growth and the raising of capital for high-potential companies.

Developed in cooperation with Confindustria, the Ministry of the Economy and Ministry for Economic Development, ELITE has opened up to CDP – which has purchased a 15% stake in the platform – and to the Chinese company NUO Capital, a holding for investments headquartered in Milan, two strategic partners enabling the consolidation of the project internationally. Established in 2012 and converted into a public company in 2016, ELITE supports companies in their growth projects, providing them with access to an international network, diversified sources of funding and dedicated training.

Today the platform has over 600 companies (mostly Italian) in 36 sectors generating over 50 billion euros of aggregate income and 215,000 jobs throughout Europe: the aim for the next 18 months is to reach a network of over 1000 companies.

“The investment in ELITE is part of a broader CDP strategy to provide excellent companies with easier access to alternative and complementary sources of non-conventional funding – said the CEO of CDP Fabio Gallia -. With a prestige institutional partner such as Borsa Italiana, CDP is driving the development of alternative financing and the spread of a new culture in SMEs in relation to capital. By joining the platform they also obtain access to all the instruments of the CDP Group able to help with their growth and internationalization”.
