CDP launches the Governance Community

A new network and forum for dialogue and collaboration dedicated to the most topical issues in corporate governance: this is the Governance Community launched by CDP and presented on 30 September in Rome at the Casina Poste.

The Community brings together some of Italy’s leading economic players. Its members include 28 investee companies, both listed and unlisted: Ansaldo Energia, Autostrade per l'Italia, CDP Equity, CDPE Investimenti, CDP Real Asset SGR, CDP Reti, CDP Venture Capital, Eni, Euronext, F2i, Fincantieri, Fintecna, Fondo Italiano di Investimento SGR, GPI, GreenIT, Hotelturist (TH Resorts), Italgas, NEXI, Open Fiber, Polo Strategico Nazionale, Poste Italiane, Renovit, Saipem, Simest, Snam, Terna, Gruppo Trevi and Webuild.

The initiative’s goal is to encourage the exchange of experiences, share best practices and strengthen a common vision.

The launch event featured remarks from Chair Giovanni Gorno Tempini, Chief Executive Officer Dario Scannapieco and Undersecretary at the Ministry of Economy and Finance Federico Freni.

“Corporate governance is playing an increasingly central role: today the ‘G’ in ESG is no longer a detail but a true strategic and competitive driver”, said Gorno Tempini. “With the launch of the Governance Community, we are promoting the sharing of experiences and a vision focused on long-term sustainable success.”
“The Governance Community was created to provide a structured, ongoing forum for discussion between CDP and its portfolio companies”, noted Scannapieco. “Our aim is to foster exchange among diverse organisations and promote a shared value system to address regulatory developments and anticipate future challenges together.”

The event was also attended by Assonime, Georgeson, industry experts and the heads of legal departments from several companies. One session was dedicated to the new challenges facing corporate lawyers and featured contributions from Alessandro Tonetti, Head of Legal, Corporate and Regulatory Affairs at Cassa Depositi e Prestiti; Alessandra Battaglia, Director of Legal and Corporate Affairs at Fincantieri; Danilo Del Gaizo, Director of General, Legal and Corporate Affairs at Terna; Monica Coppo, Head of Legal and Corporate Affairs Italy at Nexi; Roberto Ulissi, Director of Corporate Affairs and Governance at Eni; and Umberto Baldi, Chief Legal Officer & General Counsel at Snam.

The CDP Governance Community will continue to meet regularly, including through technical working groups, to explore specific issues in corporate governance and share the expertise and experiences developed by the individual companies.
