These are the objectives of the six-and-a-half million loan that Cassa Depositi e Prestiti has granted to Co.Pro.B, a cooperative that oversees the Italian sugar and beet sugar sector.
Specifically, the investment will be used to both increase the storage capacity of the company's main depots in Italy in Argelato (BO), Finale Emilia (MO), Porto Viro (RO) and Ostellato (FE), and to build a new tanker loading point at the Pontelongo (PD) production plant. Additionally, Co.Pro.B is planning to purchase new industrial machinery at the Minerbio (BO) and Pontelongo (PD)’s sites.
Founded in Bologna in 1962, the Cooperativa Produttori Bieticoli (Co.Pro.B.) is an agricultural cooperative operating in the national market for the production and marketing of sugar and related bi-products. Thanks to its approximately 4,000 members, Co.Pro.B. owns farms located mainly in Emilia-Romagna and Veneto regions and is a market leader in the sugar beet sector, currently being the only 100% owned Italian sugar supply chain, with a strong commitment to process and product innovation for economic and environmental sustainability.
