CDP Foundation and social enterprise ‘Con i bambini’ – together to enhance digital skills

€3 million to support the development of scientific and technological knowledge of children in the south of Italy

“Strumenti per crescere” (“Tools for Growth”): this is the title of the new call launched by the CDP Foundation and the social enterprise ‘Con i Bambini’ as part of the Fund for combatting children’s educational poverty, and with the goal of bridging the digital gap between North and South by investing in the education of younger generations.

The call entails €3 million for the support of initiatives aimed at developing digital and STEAM skills in students aged from 11 to 17 years in non-capital municipalities in the Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Apulia, Sardinia and Sicily regions.

Projects for submission need to be developed by partnerships comprising at least one school and two third-sector organisations and can also involve universities, private and public organisations. The initiatives envisaged also include gamification, coding and digital learning activities, in order to experiment with new teaching and educational methods and stimulate creativity, thus developing innovative skills that will be useful in a modern job market.

Through this initiative, the CDP Foundation and the social enterprise ‘Con i Bambini’ aim to contribute to the reduction of the gap and disparities, in terms of social inclusion, that currently exist between northern, southern and central Italy.

Indeed, social status, family background and the territory in which children live have a great impact on educational levels and, as a result, on employment opportunities. The “Strumenti per crescere” call represents a tangible response to this situation, and will allow younger generations to develop adequate skills and undertake educational paths leading to better employment opportunities.
