Schools, public squares, leisure facilities and energy efficiency to improve the environmental quality of the Basilicatan village
Tito, a small town in the Melando valley in Basilicata situated on the site of the former Lombard stronghold Satrianum, has carried out an extensive programme of structural improvements to its public real estate stock with the support of the Cassa Depositi e Prestiti.
The picturesque town on the outskirts of Potenza has used €1.5 million of CDP financing to upgrade earthquake proofing at the Giovanni Pascoli Comprehensive School and for vital urban redevelopment work, such as the resurfacing of Piazza della Repubblica in Tito Scalo and the construction of small sports fields in the wellness park in Madonna delle Grazie. These works have transformed the urban design of this municipality of Potenza, making it more liveable and accessible for its approximately seven thousand inhabitants.
The partnership between CDP and the municipality in Basilicata is testament to Cassa's focus on the needs of small Italian municipalities and will continue with the development of projects to further improve the environmental quality of the area through energy efficiency measures. These initiatives are part of CDP's commitment to working with public administrations in southern Italy to promote new investments in the area of sustainability, with a particular focus on sustainable mobility, energy transition, the circular economy and social infrastructure.
