After the success of Peter Stein's Die Zauberflöte, CDP continues to show its commitment to the Academy Project by supporting young excellence at the Academy of Theater at La Scala.
From September 2 to September 24, La Scala stage will see the youth of the Teatro alla Scala Academy engaged in a new production, Hänsel and Gretel, Engelbert Hunperdinck's fairy-tale masterpiece drawn from the classic fairy tale of Grimm Brothers.
The work, presented during a press conference in Milan, involves the students of the Academy of Lyric Opera of the Teatro alla Scala, the Orchestra and the students of the professional schools of the Teatro alla Scala Academy. From singing, costumes, stage sets to melodies: all will be realized by students who will put into practice what they learned in the course of study, working alongside two great names of theater: director Sven - Eric Bechtolf and conductor Marc Albrecht .
Hänsel and Gretel, written in 1893, is one of the most represented on the global scale and boasts, in Italian terms, La Scala’s tradition of complete respect: first performed at famous Milan theater in 1902 under the baton of Arturo Toscanini, Hunperdinck's masterpiece was restaged there throughout the mid-1900s, always in Italian. The students of the Academy will therefore have the privilege of bringing to La Scala’s stage the theatrical performance in the German.
Hänsel and Gretel marks the continuation the project of the Academy Project promoted by CDP, which, as a National Institute of Promotion, supports initiatives that are able to tell the excellence of young Italian workers and the fundamental role of Culture, Study and Training to reach prestigious goals .
