CDP and Kazakh Sovereign Fund Sign Deal to Promote Business Cooperation between Their Countries

The agreement was signed by the Chief Executive Officer of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, Dario Scannapieco, and the Chairman of the Board of Samruk Kazyna, Nurlan Zhakupov, during a state visit to Rome by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

The initiative envisages cooperation financing for Italian and Kazakh businesses and the identification of new investment opportunities.


To promote cooperation between Italian and Kazakh enterprises and unlock sustainable growth projects and to identify potential investment opportunities in the two nations – these are the key goals of a new cooperation agreement signed by Cassa Depositi e Prestiti CEO Dario Scannapieco and Nurlan Zhakupov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kazakh sovereign fund “Samruk Kazyna”. The agreement was signed during a state visit to Rome by the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

The two-year CDP–Samruk Kazyna Cooperation Agreement targets manufacturing sectors, the energy transition and logistics to promote cooperation opportunities between Italian and Kazakh businesses and steer potential financing into sustainable investment projects in Kazakhstan that make a high impact towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the UN 2030 Agenda.

The deal also looks to step up partnerships between CDP Group companies and Samruk Kazyna to promote investment opportunities in the two countries and contemplates the possibility of setting up a dedicated fund to facilitate know-how exchange between the economic fabrics of Italy and Kazakhstan.
