Agreement for the infrastructure redevelopment of the Port of Ancona

Memorandum of Understanding signed by the Port System Authority (AdSP) of the Central Adriatic Sea and Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP) will ensure the modernisation of maritime transport infrastructure by promoting strategic projects to expand the commercial offering and improve freight and passenger transport in the Port of Ancona.

The partnership will enable the local council to grasp opportunities stemming from the InvestEU Programme, drawing on the consulting services of CDP in its role as an Advisory Partner to the European Commission, within the European Investment Advisory Hub created by the European Union.

In detail, the Port System Authority is embarking on a programme to revitalise the maritime infrastructure in the Marche region’s capital city. This is part of an effort to modernise and streamline traffic flows in a rapidly changing market environment. The Authority plans to promote a series of strategic projects, including the construction of a peninsula within the commercial port and a new passenger terminal in the former exhibition complex area of the Port of Ancona.

The MoU, effective until 31 December 2024, outlines the role of CDP in supporting the Authority. This primarily involves providing technical and operational consultancy during the planning and execution stages of the proposed interventions, as well as project management responsibilities for the efficient execution and management of structural works.

The signatories to the MoU were Vincenzo Garofalo, President of the Central Adriatic Sea Port System Authority, and Luca D'Agnese, Director of Policy, Evaluation and Advisory at CDP.
