A day of training courses, encounters and lots of sport: these were the elements characterising a visit by representatives of the Milan Foundation and CDP Foundation to 30 youngsters in Palermo for the project Play For The Future at the ASD Sant’Ernesto club.
Promoted by the two foundations in partnership with the Ministry of Justice, the initiative aims to enhance the social reintegration opportunities for more than 120 young people currently committed to the criminal justice system in Palermo, Naples, Catania and Bari, through programmes combining sports education and vocational guidance to support them through their probation period.
In Palermo in particular, thanks also to the support of the local Child Welfare Office (USSM), the project initially involved 15 kids but the sharp rise in interest saw it quickly expand to cover 30 young juvenile delinquents. Alongside sports education activities, a vocational guidance programme run in partnership with the Gi Group Foundation helps the participants explore and develop their skills and approach the job market through individual guidance sessions and group workshops. Three of them are currently engaged in their first work experience programme, identified through to the vocational guidance undertaken.
