Liquidation Processes

Established in 1993, in the early years Fintecna managed the restructuring, liquidation and privatisation of state-owned companies.

In 2002, it incorporated IRI and acquired its equity investments, specialising in liquidation activities, including for public entities.

Over the years, Fintecna has been identified by the legislator as the entity to which to transfer assets to be liquidated, liquidator of companies and entities, and liquidator of companies under compulsory administrative liquidation, acquiring and consolidating specific expertise in the field of insolvency proceedings as well.

The company has all the necessary skills to provide services with regard to so-called “distressed assets”, especially in relation to the management of companies/assets without business activities.

Fintecna currently:

•    Manages the liquidation of the residual owned assets (mainly smaller receivables and equity investments, predominantly in consortia) related to the industrial activities carried out by companies of the former IRI Group
•    Manages the liquidation of the former EFIM, IGED and EXPO portfolios, established by law and transferred to Fintecna in the form of a “separate asset pool”
•    Carries out the role of liquidator of the Ente Nazionale per la Cellulosa e per la Carta, Consorzio del Canale Milano-Cremona-Po, and Consorzio Bancario SIR S.p.A.
•    Carries out the role of liquidator for companies of the CDP Group: these include IQ Made In Italy Investment Company S.p.A. and CDP Immobiliare Srl (and its subsidiaries).

In 2021 (Italian Law no. 147 of 21/10/2021), Fintecna became qualified to exercise the role of liquidator of public equity investments in related periodic rationalisation transactions.
