Born in Rome in 1982, Fabio Barchiesi holds a Master’s degree in Economics, an Executive MBA from LUISS Business School, and completed an Executive programme in Planning, Strategy and Control from Bocconi University.
He currently serves as Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of CDP Equity, and as Deputy General Manager of CDP SpA, with responsibility for Investments, Human Resources, Transformation, Information Technology and External Relations.
As CEO, Fabio Barchiesi defines the industrial and financial vision and ensures the implementation of the direct and indirect equity strategy through CDP Equity’s role as a long-term shareholder in key companies and networks for the country, and as an investor in venture capital, private equity, private debt and infrastructure funds, contributing to the growth of Italy’s industrial system and strengthening its international competitiveness.
Previously (from 2021 to 2025), he served as Director of CEO Staff and Head of Plan Implementation and Strategic Initiatives at CDP, managing major strategic projects and monitoring the implementation of the Industrial Plan. In addition, from 2023 to 2025, he was Director of Equity Development, Governance and Business at CDP Equity, overseeing selected strategic equity projects and implementing solutions aimed at enhancing the value of equity holdings.
Fabio Barchiesi is a member of the Board of Directors of Italgas SpA and Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Fondo Italiano Tecnologia e Crescita (FITEC). He previously served as a member of the Board of Directors of CDP Real Asset SGR SpA (2022–2024), Greenit SpA (2022–2025), Autostrade per l’Italia SpA (2024–2025), Holding Reti Autostradali SpA (2024–2025), and Ansaldo Energia SpA (2022–2026).
