On 11-14 November, Florence provided the setting for the 22nd edition of Urbanpromo – Projects for the Country, the annual event bringing together institutions, foundations and sector professionals to imagine the future of Italian cities. Among the key players of this edition, hosted at the Innovation Center of Fondazione CR Firenze, was CDP Real Asset SGR, a partner in the initiative and a national point of reference for investment in social infrastructure.
The theme chosen for Urbanpromo 2025 – “Regenerating to live and living to regenerate” – guided a collective reflection on how better living also means better quality of life. For CDP Real Asset, regeneration means more than redeveloping spaces: it’s about giving new life to communities, creating a virtuous cycle between urban development, sustainability and social inclusion.
The event opened on 11 November with a conference titled “The Italian Constitution and the housing issue”, where Chief Executive Officer Antonino Turicchi emphasised that housing is a fundamental infrastructure for the integration of every individual into the economic and social fabric. “For this reason we’ll continue to strengthen our commitment to initiatives that, in addition to offering housing at affordable rates to those without easy access to the free market, foster social interaction and integration through shared spaces and services.”
At a seminar held on 13 November CDP Real Asset presented the path that has led the asset management company’s operations to embrace the entire “housing life cycle”, evolving from three to four Ss: Social, Student, Senior and Service housing.
The second part of the session focused on senior housing, addressing an increasingly pressing challenge: how to respond to the demographic winter and the new housing needs of self-sufficient people over 65. Speakers also included representatives of the partners involved in the two pilot initiatives “Spazio Blu” in Rome and “Ex Trotto” in Milan: INPS, Investire SGR, Gemelli a Casa, Finint SGR, Prelios SGR and Hines Italy.
