To mark the United Nation’s International Volunteer Day, celebrated each year on 5th December to recognise the contribution made by people helping others, the CDP Group has acknowledged volunteer work as a strategic lever for generating social impact and forging an even stronger bond with people, communities and local areas. With the ‘Protagonisti d’impatto’ (‘Making an Impact’) corporate volunteer scheme, launched in 2023 and open to everyone in the Group, CDP offers employees the chance to dedicate a working day or part of their free time to volunteering activities, transforming their time and expertise into a concrete benefit for the community.
In three years, the scheme has led to total donations of over 8,600 hours of voluntary work and more than 100 activities, cooperating with 12 major third-sector partners, including Save the Children, Action Aid, Legambiente, Retake, AIRC, AIL, Susan G. Komen Italia, Albergo Etico, Banco Alimentare, Salvamamme, Borgo Ragazzi Don Bosco and Comunità di Sant’Egidio. The scheme covers four areas: young people, with training initiatives for youngsters experiencing hardship; inclusion, with support given to vulnerable families and women who have been victims of violence; research, with participation in sports’ events and fundraising, and the environment, with activities to care for green areas and clean up public spaces.
Experiences in 2025 include the Beach Litter Day organised with Legambiente along the Lazio coast, with over sixty volunteers collecting nearly three hundred kilos of waste, and activities with the association Salvamamme, involving CDP Group employees in classifying clothes and essential products for preparing basic kits and ‘rescue packs’, containing essentials for women and mothers fleeing domestic violence.
