Supporting the transition towards a more efficient and sustainable water system, promoting actions to consolidate infrastructures and improve service quality, is just one of the goals of the CDP Group, in line with its 2025-2027 Strategic Plan.
And an example is the 117-million-euro loan to Irisacqua, the sole operator of the water network supplying 25 municipalities in the Province of Gorizia. The loan, granted with other banks, will support investments to modernise waterworks, sewer systems and purification plants. Plans have been made to build new water mains and expand current infrastructures, aiming for a 23% reduction in losses.
The need to take action to optimise the water network concerns all of Italy, with the country registering losses of over 40%, against investments that have grown steadily and considerably over the past few years.
Irisacqua’s work, which targets an area with 140,000 inhabitants, will have positive impacts in economic terms, generating further investments, in social terms, increasing jobs, and in environmental terms putting the focus on a key natural asset - water.
With this investment, CDP has confirmed its commitment to supporting the activities of Italian public entities, contributing to the development of local areas and protecting resources that are fundamental for the wellbeing of communities.
