CDP: loan renegotiations now possible for over 100 municipalities affected by the 2012 earthquake

The operation enables local authorities in Emilia-Romagna, Lombardy and Veneto to restructure the repayment of loans and free up resources

The local councils involved will be able to apply online from 28 October to 14 November

The new Cassa Depositi e Prestiti loan renegotiation plan to support local authorities in Emilia-Romagna, Lombardy and Veneto affected by the 2012 earthquake is now up and running. The operation is aimed at 109 Municipalities and Provinces, which will be able to adjust their loans, restructuring their payments and freeing up resources for the benefit of the local community.

From 28 October to 14 November it will be possible to apply for renegotiation, also for loans that have already benefitted from the deferral of instalments permitted by CDP between 2012 and 2023. Cassa Depositi e Prestiti will make the list of original loans available to local councils, outlining the relative economic conditions of the renegotiation in the dedicated section on the CDP website. Authorities will be able to complete the entire application procedure online, from the appraisal phase through to the finalisation of the contract, with a completely digitalised process. The deadline for submitting the necessary documentation to finalise the operation is 21 November.

Esedra Chiacchella, Head of Public Administration at CDP, commented: “Cassa Depositi e Prestiti has always taken measures to assist local authorities affected by natural disasters and the loan renegotiation facility we are launching is fully in line with this commitment. CDP therefore reiterates its tangible support for the local communities, families and businesses that suffered the effects of the 2012 earthquake, providing administrations with financial assistance to aid the recovery of the local social and economic fabric.”
