Thanks to the cooperation agreement between the two institutions, CDP becomes operational within the Foundation's historic headquarters A new hub aligned with the expansion of CDP's territorial network, which committed approximately €600 million in Abruzzo between 2023 and 2025 to support businesses and local authorities
Promoting the development of businesses and public administrations operating in the region through a stronger local presence is the objective behind the opening of "Spazio CDP" in Pescara, an operational hub of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti located within the headquarters of Fondazione Pescarabruzzo. The inauguration of the new facility in the Adriatic city implements the cooperation agreement between the two institutions and further strengthens their already solid relationship.
This additional CDP hub in Abruzzo complements the one already operating in the regional capital, reaffirming the institution's commitment to Southern and Central Italy. The opening of the new office is in line with CDP's 2025-2027 Strategic Plan, which aims to strengthen its territorial network—currently comprising 28 offices nationwide—to make it increasingly effective and establish it as a key point of reference for all stakeholders.
As provided for by the agreement, CDP's offices within the historic building of Fondazione Pescarabruzzo will offer businesses and public administrations the opportunity to meet with CDP professionals and facilitate the sharing of projects across a wide range of sectors, from new housing models to the growth and innovation of small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as initiatives supporting local development. The goal is to provide companies and public administrations with the most appropriate tools to address their diverse needs.
The relationship between Cassa Depositi e Prestiti and the Abruzzo region has deep historical roots. Looking only at the most recent three-year period (2023-2025), CDP committed approximately €600 million to businesses and public entities throughout the region.
At the inauguration of the new facility, institutional greetings were delivered by Nicola Mattoscio, President of Fondazione Pescarabruzzo; Giovanni Gorno Tempini, Chairman of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti; Lorenzo Sospiri, President of the Regional Council of Abruzzo; and Carlo Masci, Mayor of Pescara. The event continued with speeches by Gianluca Bisognani, Head of Public Administration at CDP; Andrea Nuzzi, Head of Business at CDP; and Angela Lasco, Head of Legal Affairs, Group Governance, Innovation, Legislative Affairs and Foundations at CDP.
Giovanni Gorno Tempini, Chairman of CDP, stated: "We are particularly pleased to strengthen today, thanks to the valuable collaboration of Fondazione Pescarabruzzo, the presence of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti in the region through this new operational hub, which will expand our ability to remain ever closer to businesses and local authorities. In a complex international environment, CDP confirms its commitment to supporting the productive fabric and local communities by complementing financial support with high-quality advisory services provided by our professionals. We will work every day to foster a structured dialogue, convinced that only through continuous engagement can innovation be effectively and concretely disseminated, ensuring timely and effective solutions."
Nicola Mattoscio, President of Fondazione Pescarabruzzo, commented: "The opening of Spazio CDP at our headquarters represents an achievement of great importance for the Adriatic area of Central Italy and confirms Fondazione Pescarabruzzo's vocation to foster networks of cooperation capable of generating economic development and social progress. Making the Foundation's premises available as a meeting place for institutions, businesses and public administrations means creating new opportunities for growth, innovation and shared projects together with one of Europe's leading financial institutions, for the benefit of the entire regional community."
Lorenzo Sospiri, President of the Regional Council of Abruzzo, underlined:"It is no coincidence that an institution as central to the country's economic life as Cassa Depositi e Prestiti has decided to establish a second permanent presence in Abruzzo, enhancing the Adriatic side of a region that, over the years, has strengthened the key sectors of its economy, invested heavily in infrastructure and expanded its international commercial relations. The new office in Pescara doubles the opportunities for institutions to engage in daily dialogue, building networks of projects and innovation; and for businesses, it offers the possibility of seeing their best ideas rapidly validated and the specific expertise of companies operating in the coastal and hilly areas properly valued. The Regional Council, already supported by strong relations with the national government, will provide every possible support to facilitate the launch of the new CDP office in Pescara."
Carlo Masci, Mayor of Pescara, highlighted: "The opening of Spazio CDP in Pescara is a source of great pride. In today's fast-moving world, rapid responses and tools capable of supporting public and private projects within clear timeframes are essential. This direct link with CDP helps shorten response times and provides quicker access to information and clarification. The presence of this financial and economic hub makes Pescara a point of reference for Central and Southern Italy in terms of public investment and entrepreneurial activity. Once again, Fondazione Pescarabruzzo has demonstrated remarkable foresight and commitment to the common good. Our city is therefore strengthening its strategic role in the socio-economic development of Abruzzo and neighbouring regions, confirming itself as a nationally significant centre thanks to its ability to address concretely the challenges of change and innovation that define the present historical moment."
